AHL & CHL Playoffs Update
The second segment looks in on prospects in the playoffs from four leagues, starting with the AHL and followed by the three CHL leagues. Peter gives some thoughts on the game in Toronto between the Marlies and Albany he attended. Paul shares some thoughts on goalies getting it done and more.
In the OHL Darren Raddysh (unsigned) has been named both the OHL Overage Player of the year and the Most Outstanding Defenceman of the year. The guys review his profile again and try to understand why a team like Vegas has not yet signed him. The Erie Otters and Mississauga Steelheads are in the OHL finals and the guys compare these All-Star rosters.
The WHL finals has Regina and Seattle facing off and beset with injuries Seattle is in tough. Rookie goalie Carl Stankowski ('18 draft eligible) has been a standout for the Thunderbirds and Leafs prospect Adam Brooks (TOR) is leading Regina.
The QMJHL finals between Saint Johns and the Armada looks to be a pretty lopsided finals for the heavily favoured Sea Dogs and their All-Star roster.

Ep16: CHL Playoffs, AHL Call-ups and Grant McCagg's Rankings
Wednesday Apr 19, 2017
Wednesday Apr 19, 2017
On episode 16 we look at who the prospects are that are scoring in the CHL playoffs, some AHL names to keep an eye on who have recently been called up and the guys are joined by Grant McCagg to talk U18 World Championships, 2017 NHL Draft Rankings and a few 2018 Draft Eligible players.
CHL Scoring Leaders
The WHL scoring leaders feature several over age players in Reid Gardiner, Tyler Wong who both started the season in the AHL before returning to the Dub as OA. Tyler Brown and Griffen Outhouse are two goalies that played well enough to earn a second look for the upcoming draft as they were overlooked in 2016.
The QMJHL features big name prospects that are in the league leaders but not at the top because they have swept both their series. Saint John’s Mathieu Joseph (Tampa Bay) and Thomas Chabot (Ottawa) are leading the way for the Sea Dogs. Filip Chlapik (Ottawa) and Daniel Sprong (Pittsburgh) are getting it done for Charlotte Town. Some lesser known names are at the top of the scoring leaders such as JC Beaudin (Colorado) Alex Fortin, and Jeffrey Truchon-Viel.
In the OHL Pete talks about Peterborough Petes goalie Dylan Wells (Edmonton) who is the CHL goalie of the week and is making saves and scoring goals for the Petes. They eliminated Kingston but not before Jason Robertson had a breakout performance worthy of earning him first round consideration. Petrus Palmu of Owen Sound continues to score and make a case for a NHL contract. London and Erie played game seven and one of the Carolina Hurricanes prospects of Warren Foegele or Janne Kuokkanen will move on to the Conference finals while the other could go to the AHL.
***
AHL Call-Ups
Speaking of the AHL, the second segment looks a prospects heading into the playoffs. Pete has some off the radar players to watch for those looking for a diamond in the rough who are on ATO’s; Matthew Phillips (Stockton), Keegan Iverson Ontario), Giovanni Fiore (San Diego), and Pierre Engvall and Jesper Lindgren with the Toronto Marlies.
Paul has a list with some more familiar names to watch including Carter Hart (Lehigh Valley), Tyler Moy (Milwaukee), Dennis Cholowski (Grand Rapids)

DPR - Episode 10: Tank for Nolan?
Wednesday Jan 25, 2017
Wednesday Jan 25, 2017
In our tenth episode Paul and Peter begin with a debate about “tanking” in fantasy hockey.
Is it a good strategy, is it morally correct or appropriate, how to do it correctly and when.
If you are going to tear down your fantasy team and rebuild through the draft, be sure to time it correctly with a year that has impact superstars worth tanking for like Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews in the previous two drafts.
***
In the second segment they cover that by looking ahead and reviewing the 2017 Fantasy Ranking the NHL Draft article. Unlike any other draft ranking the article is a consensus ranking for the 2017 entry draft based on fantasy value.
The article received contributions from both external independent scouts and DobberProspects scouts as well. Contributing authors include:
Steve Kournianos (@TheDraftAnalyst), Ryan Wagman (@RAWagman), Scott Wheeler (@scottcwheeler), Mark Seidel (@MarkSeidel), Brock Otten (@BrockOtten), Anthony Mauro (@draftbuzzhockey), Cam Robinson (@CrazyJoeDavola3), Zachary DeVine (@zakkthebear), Brad Phillips (@BradHPhillips), Kevin LeBlanc (@kleblanchockey), Joel Henderson (@dathockeydoe) and our very own Peter Harling (@pharling)
Players identified in this episode as better fantasy value or rising value prospects in the draft include Nico Hischier, Martin Necas, Kailer Yamamoto, and Nick Suzuki.
Players that have lower fantasy value or have declining projection include Maxime Comtois, Cal Foote, and Klim Kostin.
***
The interview segment has a contributing author to the Fantasy Ranking the Draft article as Steve Kournianos from The Draft Analyst joins the show. The guys ask Steve why he ranked the following players higher than the consensus, Henri Jokiharju, Ian Mitchell, and Casey Mittelstadt. In addition they ask Steve to discuss prospects he did not rank inside his top 31 that did make the consensus ranking in Nick Suzuki, Cody Glass, Robin Salo and Matthew Strome.
